Any thoughts about bringing FAST back online?

FAST

Hi, FASTers. I'm settled into Chantilly, and I have my development server set up. I'm still ramping up the Drupal learning curve, though, and let's just say it's a very different process than I'm used to.
The underlying code is mostly written, though the updater needs some additional testing. Once I get the hang of Drupal module design, I'll be able to make more progress.

Fortunately, the rebirth of StarEmpires coincides with my finishing up moving to Chantilly. I now have my development platform set up at the new place, and I'll be getting to work on the Drupal-friendly version of FAST, probably sometime this week. I don't know yet what all the development will involve, but I'll have a better release estimate soon.

FAST torps

Is the ability to totaly predict where a torp will end up definitely a good thing? It was a fun challenge to figure out how to cope with them, but once the methodology is developped...then it starts to seem a little work-ish. What if torps had a somewhat random thrust from turn to turn, so you couldn't really plot out that sweet spot?

Also, I've been playing pbem Close Action lately and that made we wonder about maybe upping the maneuvering room in a FAST turn. At the simplest level you could say turn, move, and thrust but it is player decided which order those happen in. Too crazy?
