What's on the menu?

Here's a demo page of the beginnings of the new user interface.  In addition to some more map items (portal connectivity lines, homeworld indicators), I've added a few interactive items:

  • A hover menu that appears when you mouseover a sector on the map.  This will show quick-glance info about the sector.
  • An info dialog that appears when you click on a sector.  This will show still more info about the sector and will remain visible until you close it, so that you can bring up info about an important sector while you glance at other locations on the map.
  • An orders menu that appears when you right-click (or left-click for you lefties) on a sector.  Each menu item will invoke a separate dialog that will let you enter different types of orders for that sector.

Stay tuned at that link for further updates.

Demo functional?

Hey, John!  Should the demo map be functional with regard to the changes you mentioned (hover menu on mouseover, etc.)?

Yes, indeed.  What browser

Yes, indeed.  What browser are you using?  Please don't say IE. :)  So far I've only tested in Safari and Firefox.

Low-brow(ser)

OK, I won't say it, but if I were to, it would be version 6 of the Browser that Dare Not Speak It's Name. No biggie  - I can always use Firefox. Thanks!

Yeah, I have no plans to support iE6.  I mean, if it's good (bad?) enough for Google to drop, who am I to argue?

When?

Sometime this year.  The demo page has been updated with more interesting hover windows and popup dialogs, so progress is being made.
